The Scopes Trial
Also known as the "Scopes Monkey Trial" and formally as The State of Tennessee v. John Thomas Scopes, was a legal case in Tennessee in 1952.
The substitute high school teacher (Scopes) was accused of violating the Tennessee's Butler Act.
The Butler Act forbids teaching the Evolution Theory in every state-funded school, agains the Bible story of the Divine Creation.
So the debate became to the one issue as to whether he taught that man descended from a lower order of animals. He was founded guilty.
