The width is three times the length is it would be 3x.

Those are only two of the sides but you need to find the other two so add them together, 3x + x = 4x and multiply it by 2

4x multiplied by 2 = 8x

8x is the perimeter so do 8x = 72

Divide 72 by 8 so...

x = 9

So now you know the length is 9 feet and the width is 27 feet.
