For this case we must find the cost of the bench, then:

Let "x" be the variable that represents the cost of the garden table.

Let "y" be the variable that represents the cost of the bench

If both cost $ 607 we have:

x + y = 607 (1)

Now if the garden table costs $ 43 less than the bench then:

x = y-43 (2)

Thus, we have a system of two equations with two unknowns;

Substituting (2) in (1):

y-43 + y = 607\\2y = 607 + 43\\2y = 650\\y = \frac {650} {2}\\y = 325

So, the bench costs $ 325

Answer:

$ 325
