Why did Europe not like the Monroe doctrine?

Europe did not like the Monroe Doctrine because it prevented them from invading the Western Hemisphere an claiming more land. The Monroe Doctrine was a policy formed by the U.S. Government against foreigners. This helped out the U.S. as it was beginning to stabilize as a nation and country.
