Science fiction allows room for creative expansion, bringing new thoughts and ideas for real scientists. Though considered an artistic genre, Science Fiction also helps readers focus on important questions in society. For example, racial/gender equality could be a big theme behind such writing.

To put it in short terms, Science Fiction allows us to look into our culture and society, finding what's both good and bad about the world today. It helps us express ourselves creatively and socially, while giving scientists new ideas for what can be possible through science. (cloning, travelling to other galaxies, etc.)

Hope I helped! :)
