Taking what you have learned about Congressional powers and limitations, what similarities are there between how our government works and your own experiences with board game rules? Think of a time when you played a board game such as Sorry, Monopoly, or Pictionary. List five standard enumerated rules for board games like this. For example, the person who rolls the highest number gets to go first. Then list five standard implied rules that all good team players should abide by. For example, no cheating.

Answer:

The government is similar to a board games because they both have rules you need to follow. The Constitution assigned to Congress responsibility for organizing the executive and judicial branches, raising revenue, declaring war, and making all laws necessary for executing these powers. In a board game each player has a duty that they have to follow just like the government has. Each part of the government has to work together to get the job done. In a board game you also have to work together so you can win.

Five enumerated rules for Monopoly

  • Each player receives the same amount of money at the beginning.
  • If the player arrives to the prison, he cannot throw the dice in the next round.
  • Each time a player reaches the "start" position, he receives a monetary compensation.
  • If a player runs out of money, he is bankrupt and cannot continue playing because he has lost the game.
  • If a person buys a property, receives a card where the characteristics of the property are stated.

Five implied rules that all good players should abide by in Monopoly:

  • One of the players has to be in charge of the bank, and he has to be fair in this function as he cannot benefit any of the players or himself in the transactions.
  • No one can refuse to make a payment if he is obliged by the rules.
  • Not taking money from the person next to you when he is not paying attention
  • Not adding new houses to your property if the other players are not looking to the board.
  • If you lose, you have to accept the result and never become violent or excessively angry.
