So the center of the two points, or a line can be defined using the equation:
midpoint=((x_2+x_1)/(2), (y_2+y_1)/(2)). So using the two points you gave, you simply plug the values in to get


midpoint=((3+7)/(2), (-1+(-5))/(2))\\

Add numerators:


midpoint=((10)/(2), (-6)/(2))

Simplify fraction:


midpoint=(5, -3)
