The Seminole were victims of deceit, coercion and ultimately force through a purge performed by Native Americans in the US in the 19th Century. Geography helped the Seminole tribe to resist removal with the war of guerrillas until the US gave in and let the Seminole survivors stay in Florida. The US Government decided to relocate the Southeastern tribes west of the Mississippi River when the tribes were forced on shameful marches to their new lands.
