Distribute

3x-3 -4x-2 = 8x-8

Combine like terms

-x-5 = 8x-8

Add x to each side

-x+x-5 =8x+x -8

-5 = 9x-8

Add 8 to each side

-5+8 = 9x-8+8

3 = 9x

Divide by 9

3/9 =9x/9

1/3 =x
