A study in David's town showed that the ratio of number to people who get their news from Frontbook to the number of people who get their news elsewhere is 3:7. In a town of 900 people, how many people get their news from Frontbook?

Answer:

270 people

Explanation:

If we think of the ratio as "parts", it becomes very easy!

  • 3 parts get their news from Frontbook
  • 7 parts get their news from elsewhere

In total there are 3 + 7 = 10 parts

Really, in the town there are 900 people so each part is
(900)/(10)=90 people

And we know 3 parts get their news from Frontbook, so 3 parts is
90*3=270 people
