Answer: There is 1875 gallons of the 15% solution should be combined with the first solution to get 2500 gallons of a 20% of iodine solution.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

In first solution , Percent of iodine solution = 35%

In second solution, Percent of iodine solution = 15%

Let the number of gallon of 15% solution be x

Let the number of gallon of 35% solution be 2500-x

According to question,

0.15x+0.35(2500-x)=0.20* 2500\\\\0.15x+875-0.35x=500\\\\0.15x-0.35x=500-875\\\\0.20x=375\\\\x=(375)/(0.2)\\\\x=1875\ gallon.

Hence, there is 1875 gallons of the 15% solution should be combined with the first solution to get 2500 gallons of a 20% of iodine solution.
