Thomas Jefferson owned large plantations in virginia, and most of his close friends were planters. can you suggest any reasons why Jefferson found himself agreeing with du Pont and the other physiocrats?

Firstly, who are the Physiocrats? The Physiocrats are members of the 18th-century group of French economists who were of the opinion that agriculture was the source of all wealth. they believed that silver, gold or money was just a means of exchange, and that manufacturing couldn't create wealth, so, therefore, it was useless.

Samuel du Pont de Nemours who was a prominent physiocrat, shares the same view, these views matched the beliefs and interests of Thomas Jefferson and many other planters, who had agricultural interests.
