How does the amount of water used for industry compare with the amount of water used for agriculture?

Worldwide, water consumption in agriculture is around 69-70%, while for industrial uses, water consumption is about 19-20%, while 10-12% is for municipal use and for households. However, individually, in some developed industrial countries, total water consumption for industry is more than half of the water available for use. This, of course, is a major problem because the lack of water can lead to disturbances in the supply of water not only in developed countries, but in general. For example, for the production of one liter of biofuels, between 1000 and 4000 liters of water is needed.

Even though Industries use water in plenty of processes such as cooling, washing, transporting, diluting and other industrial activities, including oil refineries and chemical production, the industrial use of water counts for only 19% of the total; while "Farm water" (another name for Agricultural water) overtakes that with a whopping 2/3 of the total, or around approximately 67 to 70% of the total, thus that activity being the largest consumer of water in the world.
