Answers and explanations for each so you don't have to question it! ( Just to make you feel better I got this correct on my test!)

The connotative definition of the word snake - One who is untrustworthy or presents an unseen danger ( The connotative definition of a word is basically the idea of the word or thing and this is the ideal idea of a snake!)

The denotative definition of the word snake - A scaly, limbless, elongated, sometimes venomous reptile. ( Denotative means the precise meaning of a word which this is the precise meaning of snake.)

A sentence featuring the literal meaning of the word snake - Anita told everyone she would like a snake for her birthday. ( This is correct because Anita literally want's a snake for her birthday!)

A sentence featuring a simile with the word snake - The kite string was wrapped around the branch like a snake. ( The reason this is correct is because it has like which is used in similes not metaphors.)

A sentence featuring a metaphor with the word snake - Todd was a snake in the grass, waiting for a chance to strike. ( Tod isn't literally a snake and he isn't about to strike this is somebody referring him to a snake about to strike which makes it a metaphor. )

Hope this helps it took me forever lol! = )

The connotative definition of the word snake - one who is untrustworthy or presents an unseen danger

The connotative definition of a word is it's secondary meaning. Calling someone a snake gives that person the qualities of a snake such as sneaky and dangerous.

The denotative definition of the word snake - a scaly, limbless, elongated, sometimes venomous reptile

The denotative definition of a word is what you would find in the dictionary. It is the most literal definition.

A sentence featuring the literal meaning of the word snake - Anita told everyone she would like a snake for her birthday.

Anita literally wants a snake for her birthday.

A sentence featuring a simile with the word snake - The kite string was wrapped around the branch like a snake.

This is a simile because it uses the word like to compare the kite string to a snake.

A sentence featuring a metaphor with the word snake - Todd was a snake in the grass, waiting for a chance to strike.

A metaphor compares two things without using like or as. In this sentence Todd is being compared to a snake.
