The heat is transferred to the mug
And then to the cool air and makes the temperature of the coffee cold from the cool air. Hopefully this is helpful

The energy goes to anything that is colder than itself. If the coffee is warmer than the mug, than the heat goes to the mug, the to the cool counter and air.
