In a journal, the informational content is provided in decreasing order of importance or relevance. This technique is called reversed pyramid. i.e. This way the most important informations (the content's foundation) is shown first, and the less relevant, last. Following this concept, the first paragragh, called lead aims to provide the readers with fast access to information and give them tha ability to chose and focus on the contents they're actually interested in reading about. The articles' headings are usually based on the lead paragraph.
