Dorrian graphed the distance, y, traveled by 2 bikes in x seconds.

If the two bikes are racing a distance of 100 feet, which bike will win the race?

A.Bike 2 will win because the slope of the line for Bike 2 5/4, which is greater than the slope of the line for Bike 1.

B.Bike 2 will win because the slope of the line for Bike 2 is 4/5, which is greater than the slope of the line for Bike 1.

C.Bike 1 will win because the slope of the line for Bike 1 is 2/3, which is greater than the slope of the line for Bike 2.

D.Bike 1 will win because the slope of the line for Bike 1 is 3/2, which is greater than the slope of the line for Bike 2.

Answer:

Explanation:

Alright, lets get started.

Lets find slope for both bikes one by one

For bike 1 :

There are two points on the graph of Bike 1, these two points are (2,3) and (4,6)

So the slope for bike 1 is :
(y_(2)-y_(1) )/(x_(2)-x_(1) )

So the slope for bike 1 is :
(6-3)/(4-2)

So the slope for bike 1 is :
(3)/(2)

For bike 2 :

There are two points on the graph of Bike 2, these two points are (4,5) and (8,10)

So the slope for bike 2 is :
(y_(2)-y_(1) )/(x_(2)-x_(1) )

So the slope for bike 2 is :
(10-5)/(8-4)=(5)/(4)

Hence Bike 1 will win the race as slope of line bike1 is greater than slope of line bike 2. So, answer is option D
