When I try to solve for x, how do I know what the equation really means-example-1

∠A = 148°

Explanation:

The angle vertically opposite ∠A corresponds with ∠B and are congruent, hence

6x - 2 = 4x + 48 ( subtract 4x from both sides )

2x - 2 = 48 ( add 2 to both sides )

2x = 50 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = 25

∠A = 6x - 2 = (6 × 25) - 2 = 150 - 2 = 148°
