What are candid shots? What are posed shots? Compare and contrast some of the advantages and disadvantages to these two approaches.

Answer:

Candid shots are used when a child is playing or moving often, showing how they are in real life instead of for a photograph. Posed shots are where you would have to sit for a photo, for example. Posed shots might give off a more “perfect” look but they don’t look as natural. In candid shots, it might be a little hard to get the child doing the activity in the right position since they are making their own choices of what to do for the photograph, but they give great results.

Candid: The person/people are unaware that they are being photographed. The picture is taken without causing any distraction to the subject (like preparation and trying not to surprise them) while the subject is in motion. It can be beautiful to catch an image like that at the perfect moment. Candid shots are very good

Posed: The person/people are aware of the photograph being taken. They follow instructions the photographer gives them (certain poses, expressions, mood, etc.) Posed shots are planned, so they might not be as beautiful as candid ones.
