Explanation:

In order to construct a perpendicular segment to a line through a point that isn't on that line, the first step is to construct a line and mark that point from which the perpendicular is to be drawn that is shown in D.

Now, from A and B, draw an arc CD that is shown in B. Then, from points C and D, draw an arc which can be shown in A. Further, join that arc with the point P which will be the perpendicular from point P to the line AB which is shown in step in C.
