Tom's kitchen is 12.5 feet wide. He wants to tile the floor with 0.75-foot-wide tiles. How many tiles will be needed for one row of tiles that extend across the length on the floor?

he will need 17 tiles to go across one row of his kitchen floor.

. 75 x 17 = 12.75

using 17 tiles exceeds the length by a little bit, however if we were to use one less tile (16 x .75 = 12) the tiles wouldn't be long enough to cover the length of 12.5 feet.
