So, just take the number of girls and place that over the number of children in total. So, in this case, 18 / 30.

18/30=.6

This can be converted to 60%

In a class, there are 30 children and 18 of the children are girls. What percent of the class are girls?

The fraction
(18)/(30) represents the 18 girls in the class out of all the students in the class.

We can first reduce this fraction by dividing both the numerator and denominator by the Greatest Common Factor of 18 and 30 using 6.

18 ÷ 6 = 3

30 ÷ 6 = 5

3 ÷ 5 = 0.6

0.6 × 100 = 60%

Therefore, 60% of the students in the class are girls.
