B) Using lots of scary, emotional diction
Understanding that, in writing, tone is created by an author’s use of words. As you may know, words can have certain connotations and sound happy, sad, mad, excited, serious, etc. In the article, “The Kidney Thieves,” by David Emery, there is a feeling of fear that is instilled in readers by using words that are scary and emotional such as the following found within the article: “victim,” “unfamiliar,” “secluded,” “fear,” “seedy,” etc.
