Answer:

Constant of variation = 2.5

Explanation:

Given:

m varies directly as p

m=5 and p =2

To find:

Constant of variation = k =?

Solution:

Two quantities varies directly means that when one will increase other will increase too and when one will decrease other will decrease too and it can be written in the form of

a directly proportional to b

i.e.

a ∝ b

a = constant of variation * b

Where constant of variation = k

so

a = k*b

Now according to question

m ∝ p

By definition it becomes

m = k* p

Putting the values

5 = 2 * k

Or

2 * k =5

k = 5/2

k=2.5

Constant of variation = 2.5
