Video club A chargers $10 for membership and $3 per movie rental. Video club B charges $15 for membership and $2 per movie rental.

The system of equations Y = 3x + 10 (Club A)
Y = 2x + 15 (Club B)

For how many movie rentals will the cost be the same at both video clubs? What is that cost?

Answer:

For 5 movie rentals cost will be same

cost is $30

Explanation:

Let the number of movie rentals be x

So we can write

10+4x=15+3x

or

4x−3x=15−10

or

x=5 which is Answer 1

By plugging the value x=5 in the equation 10+4x

we get

10+4×5

=10+20

=30$ which is answer 2

Hope this helps!
