To find the Y-intercept, rewrite the equation in slope-intercept form.

y-3=-2(x+5)

Use the distributive property on the right side:

y-3 = -2x-10

Now you need to get Y by itself, so add 3 to each side of the equation:

y = -2x-7

Now the equation is in slope intercept form.

The slope is the -2 and the Y-intercept is the -7
