The Magna Carta or “Magna Carta Libertatum” is a letter offered by John the First of England in 1215 with the purpose of amending disputes between the king of England and a group of dissident Barons, the letter was written by the archbishop of Canterbury. It promised the protection of church and ecclesiastic rights, the protection of the imprisoned Barons, the access to immediate justice and limitation of Feudal tariffs. None of the parties kept their word and the letter was abolished by the Pope Innocent III, and that started the first Baron's war.
In this excerpt of The Magna Carta the theme is:
Forgiveness of those who worked against the government is important for achieving peace.
