In a right angle triangle ABC, at C = 90 degree as shown below

AC =BC and AB = 4 units

Let AC=BC= x units

Using Pythagoras theorem:


AB^2 =AC^2+BC^2

then substitute the given values we get;


4^2 = 2x^2

or


16 = 2x^2

Divide both sides by 2 we get;


8 = x^2

Simplify:


x= √(8) =2√(2) \text{units}

Therefore, each of the legs would be
AC = √(8) =2√(2) \text{units} and
BC = √(8) =2√(2) \text{units}
