c = 3a -17
8c + 12a = 584
8(3a -17) +12 a = 584
24a - 136 +12a = 584
36a = 720
a= 20
20 adult tickets were sold
8c + 12(20) = 584
8c +240 =584
8c = 344
c = 43
43 childrens tickets where sold
