Answer: 9,000 miligrams

Explanation:

The initial dose of Valtrex ordered to a patient= 2 gm

After that the dose of Valtrex per day= 1 gm

The total amount of Valtrex in eight days= Initial dose+7 times dose per day

⇒The total amount of Valtrex in eight days
=2\ gm+7*1\ gm

⇒The total amount of Valtrex in eight days
=2\ gm+7\ gm

⇒The total amount of Valtrex in eight days
=9\ gm

We know that
1\ gm=1000\ miligrams

Thus,
9\ gm= 9*1000=9,000\ milligrams

Hence, the patient take 9,000 milligrams of Valtrex over the eight day period.
