The value of x in the sequence is 6

An arithmetic sequence is a list of numbers in which the difference between consecutive terms is constant.

The nth term of an arithmetic sequence is given as

a(n) = a + (n-1)d

where a is the first term and d is the common difference.

The common difference in the sequence is

d = 4½ - 3

d = 1½

Therefore;

x = 1 ½ + 4½

x = 6

Therefore the value of x in the sequence is 6
