(On Map)/(Real World) =(4cm)/(8kilometers)

Because we know the closest beach is 12 cm away then we have


(4cm)/(8 kilometers) =(12cm)/(?).

Notice that 4cm becomes 12 cm by multiplying by 3. Do the same for the denominator and we'll have the distance in kilometers.


(4 * 3cm)/(8*4kilometers) =(12 cm)/(32 kilometers)
