There are 200 oranges and bananas for sale out of fruit market the ratio of the number of oranges to the number of bananas is 2:3 If 30 oranges and 20 bananas are sold what is the ratio of the remaining oranges to bananas

Answer:

1 : 2

Explanation:

find the total number of bananas/ oranges

sum the parts of the ratio 2 + 3 = 5

divide the total by 5 to find the value of one part of the ratio


(200)/(5) = 40 → 1 part of the ratio

2 parts = 2 × 40 = 80 ← number of oranges

3 parts = 3 × 40 = 120 ← number of bananas

After selling 30 oranges, there are 80 - 30 = 50 oranges and

After selling 20 bananas there are 120 - 20 = 100 bananas

ratio of remaining oranges : bananas = 50 : 100 = 1 : 2
