What binomial do you have to add to the polynomial x^2+y^2–2xy+1 to get a polynomial: not containing the variable y?

Since you do not want the variable y, you must eliminate
y^(2)-2xy

Therefore, to eliminate it, you must have the opposite of it, making the answer
2xy-y^(2)
