As one attempts to relate a text to our knowledge of the world there are three questions one might ask oneself each related to a different connection with the text.

First, Text-to-self . A possible question might be “Has something like this ever happened to me?”

Second,Text-to-text. A possible question might “Have I read about something like this before?”

Third, Text-to-world. A possible question might be “How is this text similar to things that happen in the real world?”

Making connections with your knowledge of the world while reading a text is so helpful because it affects how we learn in a good way. If you as a reader bring some previous knowledge or experience about the world before you read a text, you would be able to make connections and in that order, understand better what you read.

So, answering your question, this are some of the questions you might think about in an attempt to relate a text with your knowledge of the world:

1. Does this text remind me of the real world? If so, what is it and why?
2. How can I this part associate to the world/ to what I am leaving?
3. Why is this similar to what happen in the world?
