A moving company is called into a building and asked to relocate 520 bricks to a location 15 meters above the ground. If each brick is 4 kilograms, what amount of work will be needed to accomplish the task?

The total weight of the load is (mass) x (gravity) x (height) .

Weight = (520 x 4kg) x (9.8 m/s²)

Weight = (2,080 kg) x (9.8 m/s²)

Weight = 20,384 newtons

Work = (force) x (distance)

Work = (20,834 N) x (15 m)

Work = 305,760 Joules

Answer:

W = 305760 J

Step-by-step explanation:

Force required to pull each brick is given as

F = mg

here we know

m = 4 kg

F = (4kg)(9.8 m/s^2)= 39.2 N

now work done to bring one brick to height of 15 m

W = F.d

W = 39.2 * 15 = 588 J

Now company has to transfer total 520 bricks

so total work done is given as

W = 520 * 588 J = 305760 J
