This is all if you don't solve as a quadratic equation.

Look at the other answer.

Answer:

x = 9.75

Explanation:

Step 1. Distribute the 2(Do 2 times 2x and 2 tiems 5)

4x + 10 = 49

Step 2. Subtract 10 from both sides.

4x = 39

Step 3. Divide it all by 4 to isolate the variable.

x = 9.75

Answer:

x=1 and x=-6

Explanation:

(2x + 5)^2 = 49

Take the square root of each side

sqrt((2x + 5)^2) = ±sqrt(49)

2x+5 = ±7

Subtract 5 from each side

2x+5-5 = 7-5 2x+5-5 = -7-5

2x = 2 2x =-12

Divide by 2

2x/2 =2/2 2x/2 = -12/2

x =1 x = -6
