What are the coordinates for V’ after a dilation with scale factor 1/3 and center (0,0)?

Answer: Choice C. (1, -2/3)

Simply multiply the scale factor 1/3 with each coordinate of the given point

old x = 3

new x = (scale factor)*(old x) = (1/3)*(3) = 1

old y = -2

new y = (scale factor)*(old y) = (1/3)*(-2) = -2/3

The point V(3,-2) becomes V ' (1, -2/3)
