Answer:

Length is 8feet

Width is 26feet

Explanation:

Area of the garden = Length × Width

A = LW

Perimeter = 2(L+W)

If the length of the garden is 8 feet more than 3 times the width, then;

L = 3W+8

Substitute into the second equation

P =2(L+W)

P = 2(3W+8+W)

P = 2(4W+8)

P = 2(4W)+16

If he needs 64 feet of fencing to do the job then;

64 = 8w+16

8w = 64-16

8w = 48

w = 48/8

w = 6feet

Hence the width is 6feet

Get the length

L = 3w+8

L = 3(6)+8

L =18+8

L = 26

Hence the length is 26feet
