x = -7/11, y = -14/11

Explanation:

2x = y ------- (1)

7y = -7+3x -------- (2)

from (1)

2x = y

y = 2x ------- (3)

substitute (3) into (2)

7y = -7+3x

7(2x) = -7+3x

14x = -7+3x

14x-3x = -7

11x = -7

x = -7/11

substitute x = -7/11 into (3)

y = 2x

y = 2(-7/11)

y = -14/11

x = -7/11, y = -14/11
