The height in feet (h) of the ball t seconds after it is released can

be modeled using the formula: – 16t^2 + 10t + 6 = h
Find the time, in seconds, passed before the ball hits the ground
(let h = 0).*

Explanation:

h = -16t² + 10t + 6

When h = 0, -16t² + 10t + 6 = 0.

=> -8t² + 5t + 3 = 0

=> (-8t - 3)(t - 1) = 0

=> t = 1 or t = -3/8 (rejected as time cannot be negative)

Hence 1 second passed before the ball hits the ground.
