Concept: Mathematical Analysis
They go in opposite directions
They start at the same point, let's define that as (0,0) on the ordinary differntiable x-y axis
Hence Tom can ride 20 units left in one hour and Juanita can ride 20 units right in one hour.
We want to know the distance they are at the end of 2 hours
So we set up the equation y= 20(x)
Let x be the hours and y be the distance
So 20×2=40 miles
At the end of 2 hours they will be 40 miles apart assuming constant rate of change and a starting point of (0,0)
