Let number of rows = x

Hence, Number of seats per row = x + 18

The Area of auditorium = capacity

Area of rectangle = Length * width

1855 = x * (x + 18)

1855 = x² + 18x

x² + 18x - 1855 = 0

x² + 53x - 35x - 1855 = 0

x(x + 53) - 35(x + 53) = 0

(x - 35) = 0 or (x +53) = 0

x = 35 or x = - 53

Hence x = 35 ; (x can't be negative)

Number of seats per row = 35 + 18 = 53
