How are Ratios,rates and unit rates used to solve problems?

Answer:

ratios, rates, and unit rates can be used to solve how much of something there is compared to another thing. Ex: There are 3 times the amount of apples compared to oranges. How many apples are there if you have 2 oranges? For a ratio, you would make it 3:1. Then substitute the 1 for 2. For a rate, you would make it 3 apples per oranges. Then do the same thing you would do for the ratio. Unit rates work the same way.

A unit rate is a ratio such as 30 cents : 3 marbles = 10 cents per (1) marble, after doing the division.
