A jeweler had a fixed amount of gold to make bracelets and necklaces. The amount of gold in each bracelet is 5 grams and the amount of gold in each necklace is 20 grams. The jeweler made a total of 13 bracelets and necklaces using 185 grams of gold. Determine the number of bracelets made and the number of necklaces made.

Let us assume the number of bracelets be x

And, the number of necklaces be y

now the equations are

5x + 20y = 185

Since the total number of bracelets is given i.e. 13

So

5(13) + 20y = 185

65 + 20y = 185

20y = 185 - 65

y = 120

y = 6

Hence, the number of bracelets made and the number of necklaces made is 13 and 6 respectively
