Answer: B) 40

=============================================

Step-by-step explanation:

12 pink, 18 blue, 12+18 = 30 total

12/30 = 0.40 = 40% of the chips Milton recorded are pink

So, of the 100 chips in the box, we expect 0.40*100 = 40 chips to be pink.

40

12:18 is a 2:3 ratio of pink to blue

If this ratio continues for the population of the box;

the ratio has 5 parts. 100/5 = 20. Each part is 20.

2 * 20 = 40

3* 20 = 60

P:B = 40:60

40 pink chips and 60 blue chips

hope it helps!
