A car leaves home traveling at 75 mph for a 150 mile trip. A train leaves a station at the other end at 60 mph. At what mile marker do they meet?

So, we can equate this

The car would have traveled x mph when they meet while the train would have traveled 150-x mph when they meet

The time for the car will be x/75

Time for the train will be (150-x)/60

The times are equal;

x/75 = 150-x/60

60(x) = 75(150-x)

60x = 11250-75x

75x + 60x = 11250

135x = 11,250

x = 11250/135

x = 83 1/3 mph
