Explanation:

The question says "The area of a circular plot is 98 square meters and the diameter of another plot is 10 meters. In which of the two can a person travel a greater distance in a straight line? "

Area of a circle is given by :

A=\pi r^2

r is radius

Put A = 98 in above formula and find r

r=\sqrt{(A)/(\pi)} \\\\r=\sqrt{(98)/(\pi)} \\\\r=5.58\ m

Distance covered on a circular path,

d_1=2\pi r\\\\d_1=2\pi * 5.58\\\\=35.06\ m

Diameter of another circle, d = 10 m

Radius, r = 5 m

Distance covered on a circular path,

d_2=2\pi r\\\\d_2=2\pi * 5\\\\=31.41\ m

Hence, in a circle of area 98 square meter, a person can cover greater distance.
