How did William of Normandy win the Battle of Hastings? What long term effects did the battle create?

Answer:

William of Normandy won the Battle of Hastings by using a tactic of making his army pretend to retreat so Harold Godwinson army come chasing down the hill and would be much easier of William's army to kill their opponents. The long term effects the battle created were the change of language such as people are now saying beef, pork instead of Saxon language of pig or cow. There was also a change of clothing.
