Understanding:

The total number of students is 40. 8.20% of them were absent, which means the rest were present, or in other words, (100-8.20)% were present or 91.8%. We can find the actual number of present students by multiplying the percentage of present students by the total number of students.

Solution:

Present Percentage = 91.8% or
(91.8)/(100)

Present Students =
((91.8)/(100))(40)=36.72, since we are dealing with people we have to round it, so the present students are actually 37.
